Establishing a Chromatic Path original idea for artwork begins with pencil on paper, then a bit of ink on vellum, many revisions later a final idea can be produced as an Abobe illustrator vector file.
The time spent on any project here at Chromatic Path is dependent on the specific request of a client. This project named “Dog Kid Sadness” was created for the Chromatic Path portfolio on Getty Images and not for a client. Development began when the camera started filming as this was primarily a YouTube project. The art is for istock.com and with no client in need, I produced a personal want, so I reached into my paper files archives for this old art I once created. Done. This sketch was created a long time before this video, it was saved in my paper archives for maybe four years until I pulled it for this video project. Reaching into those old files seemed like a quick solution to my YouTube video, so right when the lights and cameras were set and running, I made my choice to revisit something old. Quick thinking and a great solution actually, nothing more as this was a video production. The lighting had to be right, the 2 camera positions were practiced and tested for sound, a boom mic was used and recorded to the computer as well, so it was not simple. The audio, wow, the audio I still have a need to revise my recording acoustics. Much learning still remains. I am aware.
YouTube Content Creation
YouTube content requires not just video to be shot, which can then be edited together, there are a few added features that YouTubers always throw in to assist the video. Help grow a channel or direct a viewer to be a supporter of the channel. To play the Chromatic Path Episode #2 on YouTube simply click here . . .
Bold, vibrant or subtle graphics or animations mostly requesting a click on the “Bell Notification Button” or a “Smash The like” button and last but not least the request for a click on the “Subscription” button are added while editing video. There are many was to present the key graphic animations required to assist the YouTub experience. My this video, first implemented was a “Click the Like” and then came the “Episode 2” marker that flashes on the screen, a Chromatic Path icon enters from the top-right screen a couple times and then there is the “Balance” animation which overtakes the screen for a second. All of which took hours to produce and revise. And, now I have them available for use anytime. Adobe Animate was the application used to generate those animations, they were exported and are now ready to use as needed in future videos. Easily edited as well.
Creative Sketches
From the beginning, pencil and pen begin this journey. Drawing the original idea roughly four years ago, I was happy to get back into it. I knew what I saw could look cool, but no time had been dedicated to it, the art was merely a doodle in the night. Sketch #1 made it to the ink stage many years ago so I saved it, not really knowing when I or if I would return to it. When I did, I immediately realized they both needed torsos and legs and feet. The circle and rain came last to encapsulate them. It was a different look in the beginning, not as sad looking as Sketch #3 but that is the way it ended.
