Professional photography is needed for branding a product brochure. Stock images are simply not enough these days to establish a brand as unique. And, if there are more than a dozen products, then branding a product brochure requires text, text and more text. This 49 page catalog arrived on my desk with no design, no art, just all the text and product images. What was needed was creativity, massive Photoshop editing to imagery and a vision of what could be done to physically brand this business for a decade or two.

Let The Product Breath

This client’s product packaging was white, so a dark background was absolutely necessary. Also, being in the industry of repairing skin required a laboratory like cleanliness, a doctor like look and feel. Putting them both together required only background designs and textures to allow each product to pop and for the text to breathe. Providing space for the text to sit alone on a texture gives it an elegance, a visible importance that draws the eye closer for a glance and maybe a quick read.

Page Creep in Printer Spreads

The printing press encountered a complication right at the end of this graphic production. The amount of page spreads when folded made it a bit thick. This caused the art to move past the cut line after folding. Our brochure started out at 42 pages, but after a few months it grew to 49 pages. Fifty page documents are the turning point for what is called a page creep printing issue. To learn more about page creep simply click here. It became an issue that was solved at the last minute by the pressman. The client’s printer accommodated the page creep on the press for each printer spread and the document printed absolutely flawless. Some printers are just awesome.
