Drawing an Animal Illustration

All art created here at Chromatic Path begins with pencil on paper. That being said, not all sketches are good . . . yet, they will be shown to you in hopes to guide us all to the better solutions for the art. Posting these YouTube videos assists me to communicate my process. A process that works.

This “Newt Project” is a perfect example of how a sketch was going well, to then look off, as the drawing and the color art were angry looking. And, yes, I would agree countless times that the eyes are off looking, as my hand was set to focus on the location of the eyes and that led me to neglect the shape of the eyes. Creatively, I was searching for what I was unable to artistically see yet, location and shape of the eyes. That is me searching for placement of the eyes while neglecting the shape, it happens. It’s in the video. It is a sketch concept, an idea, words turned into a visual. It begins from nothing and for money I turn it into something; art. All this eye business was later solved during the next stage which was detailing or texturing, and the eyes found their place during that stage of the project.

Licensing Art And Design

Guiding individuals to great visual solutions is something I have spent a lifetime doing, so giving back is important. Uploading artwork to iStock provides others with the ability to utilize my art.
