Engaging viewers live while streaming video of myself drawing is by far the most not simple step of my career. With that being said, and with absolute confidence it is true to say that this is not a burger, put quite simply the following artwork is a drawing live stream art project on www.Twitch.tv

The following art is an example of learning something new as there are many platforms to stream video out to world, Facebook Live, YouTube Live and Twitch are just a few. Each platform requires a unique piece of content so this old drawing was pulled from my digital back-up and finalized for viewers. More importantly, for me to learn a new skill while easing the pressure off another. The title treatment was saved to be created on TwitchTV as the burger itself did take many, many hours. And, it needed text. So, I used my time on Twitch to generate the text treatment “This is not a burger” and I managed to fill 4 hours of online illustration stream time. On that note, I should tell you that it was deleted one week later.

Learning Stream Features

My first attempt at engaging views was on a Friday night using Facebook Live and I knew that it was streaming to viewers but I did not engage them inside the chat window as I was busy drawing. Lesson one. Plus, I did not know how . . . while I drew. My mind has to stay focused. Mistake number one, so from there as I then began to read online about streaming tools that assist, so I began my search for a screen overlay for my OBS.

In an attempt to learn how to stream I invested in a microphone, learned how to use roughly 4 applications, editing and storage of video, plus 4 hours of my time on Twitch drawing. Keep in mind I was teaching my daughter daily school lessons about math and language arts, plus art classe and music. Needless to say, there was much distraction. Task accomplished, and now I get to evolve from there . . .

Posting on iStock

As I generate these art pieces they are finalized and uploaded to iStock for others to download and use as they see fit. Or, rather per the license agreement that they have chosen during purchase. As I find my rhythm or find my unique style it is getting easier, yet the live streaming always gives me a bit of stage fright before I click the “Go Live” button. Just another skill that needs to be exercised.
