Including an original illustration of the rod of Asclepius could not have been a better choice when creating the corporate logo for Sunshine Mobile Clinic. It is the number one icon for the healing arts of the medical industry. The serpent which sheds it’s skin symbolizes rebirth, and the staff of Asclepius is the symbol of authority befitting the god of medicine – timeless Roman mythology that is still popular today. By simply adding the sun into a custom illustration of the Asclepius symbol – it designed itself, and with a few text treatments to choose from, this project turned out to be very quick and simple.
Design:
One hour of research time was spent on the rod of Asclepius. Another hour was spent drawing sketches on paper to determine how to incorporate the sun and another hour was spent developing text solutions to balance the design. Only three sketches and three text treatments were presented as this design almost created itself – it was just that easy.
Production:
After the final concept sketch was approved, the illustration process began with the rod and snakes. The wings with their playful look and the sun with it’s rounded edges was meant to invoke a fun approach to a normally dry medical icon. It was decided by all parties involved that the final would have 3 colors to save cost when printing promotional products; vehicle wrap, brochures, bags and product labels – we all agreed.
What was included:

• 3 Concept sketches (1.5 hours)
• 3 Text treatment designs (1 hour)
